Silhouette Soft®; the new Botox®

Feb 01,2019

Non-surgical aesthetics is a growing trend globally, with more celebrities and with consumers opting for the non-surgical approach to defy the natural effects of ageing.

Botox has been used for a few decades now, notorious for temporarily paralyzing muscles in the desperate attempt to remove wrinkles. But with time everything changes and adapts and that includes Botox and aesthetics; with more people choosing and embracing the naturally rejuvenated look. This change has created a great development of non-surgical options, created to lift, prevent and reduce the signs of ageing.

With all these options available on the market, how do you choose the most suitable treatment for your wants and needs?

What is Botox?

Botox is a specific brand of toxins, available on the market, which paralyses muscles in the face, utilising very low concentrations of modified Botulinum toxin. These toxins temporarily block signalling amongst (selected types of) nerves and muscles, but with time, the toxin is naturally removed by natural processes in the body.

Botox and similar toxins can be utilised medically and in aesthetics. In aesthetics, Botox is typically used to prevent or reduce fine lines and wrinkles. Particularly popular treatments include; crows feet, forehead and frown lines, and lip and marionette lines.

Because of the mechanism of action, Botox is not particularly useful for restoring lost volume in the face, ‘fixing’ sagging skin or filling deeper wrinkles and folds.

When should I use Silhouette Soft?

Silhouette Soft is an innovative non-surgical solution, designed to reposition the sagging tissue of the face and neck*. With ageing, tissue and skin naturally move downwards in the face, typically causing volume loss in the cheeks and sagging skin around the jowls.

Silhouette Soft is made from bio-absorbable PLLA sutures, with two series of bi-directional cones; one set designed to anchor the suture and the other to reposition the tissues. This ‘lifting’ effect gives discreet and immediate results, giving a more youthful appearance. As well, Silhouette Soft helps stimulate the natural production of type I collagen in the skin, for long-term, rejuvenating effects.

Silhouette Soft is a great non-surgical option to elevate/reposition parts of the face and neck, including the treatment for the cheekbone area, sagging jawline and drooping eyebrows.

These two treatments are very different in the way they work and how they produce anti-ageing effects. Speak with your physician to discuss which product(s) are best suited for your desired outcomes.

Are silhouette soft threads a better treatment than other types of thread lift treatment? for the neck, should Botox be injected into the platisma area first followed by a thread lift? Should there be a time lag between the Botox and the thread lift in the neck area?
